Othello's Amoruso leads locals at 2A district golf

EPHRATA — Othello's Ashley Amoruso finished fourth among individuals, leading the Lady Husky golfers to a second-place team finish Monday at the District 5/6 meet at Lakeview Golf and Country Club.

While the Selah Vikings won the district championship, shooting 384 behind individual champion Taylor Moore's 86, Othello qualified three of its top four players for state action, May 22-23 at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club near Bellingham.

Othello's Meghan Olsen shot a 98 for sixth place, one stroke behind Amoruso and four strokes back of Selah's Emily Harris and Ellensburg's Kim Ellis. Othello's Katie Gardner shot a 102 for 10th place. Erika Rattray tied for the final state berth at 109, but will be an alternate next week.

The Huskies shot 406 as a team, 22 shots behind Selah and 20 in front of third-place Ellensburg. Othello's non-scoring competitors at districts were Kayla Dickson (117) and Marisa Juarez (128).

Ephrata and Quincy both qualified two individuals for state competition. The Tigers finished fourth in the team standings (427), with the Jacks fifth (470).

Ephrata's BreAnne Duff had a team-low score of 97, tying for fourth among individuals. Teammate Chanel Durham is also headed for state after placing seventh with a 99.

The Lady Tigers' other scoring members at districts were Sable Endicott (114) and Kaylie Pixlee (117). Tanya Smith finished at 122 and Sara Price at 123 to round out Ephrata's competitors.

Quincy's Kimi Goto (tied for 11th at 104) and Hannah Ferguson (tied for 13th at 105) each qualified for state. The Lady Jacks' six-golfer district roster also included Katy Higgins (118), Jessica Lerma (143), Jaclyn Lerma (151) and Kayla Horning (153).
