Jerry was born in Tacoma, Wash., to Edith and Arthur Boyle. He attended Bellarmine High School and St. Martins College where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. Jerry married Frances Ann Marz in April of 1955, and they had four daughters. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005, with family and friends in attendance.

Jerry taught Elementary school in Lacey, Wash., and Busby, Mont. The family moved to Moses Lake in 1967 where Jerry taught at the Men's Job Corps until his retirement in 1974. Jerry worked for several years after that as both a volunteer fireman with Grant Count District 5 and as a farmer.

Jerry will be remembered most for his love of cooking and his love for his family. Jerry showed his care for others in many ways. He could always be counted on to have an extra place at the table or a bed to stay in. Jerry was a storyteller and card player. He loved to camp and star gaze. He loved going to the family's beach cottage in Puget Sound. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, especially history. Jerry loved his dogs, and rarely was seen without them.

Jerry was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His health in later years may have prevented him from attending mass, but he was always there in spirit.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Boyle; his beloved wife, Frances Ann Boyle; and his great-grandson, Aidan Daniel Moberg. He leaves behind his daughters and their spouses: Karin & Jerry Buchmann of Ephrata; Koleen Boyle of Spokane, Wash.; Kimberly Boyle of Spokane, Wash.; and Kathryn & Monte Hart of Des Moines, Wash. He has 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his three brothers, their spouses and families.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 18 at 5 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Ephrata. A rosary will be said in his honor at 4 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. Interment will be Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for both Gerald and Frances at the cemetery in Ephrata.

Memorials can be made in his name to St. Rose of Lima School in Ephrata, or to an animal shelter of your choice.
