Moses Lake cleans up
Traveling trophy presented
MOSES LAKE — Hundreds turned out for the city-wide cleanup in Moses Lake Saturday morning.
There was representation ranging from the Miss Moses Lake program to youth wrestling.
After the cleanup, citizens gathered for lunch and the unveiling of a special trophy.
The traveling trophy in the form of a silver garbage can was presented as a challenge, cleanup volunteer Dale Good said. Moses Lake businesses are challenged to clean up litter for the next year.
"If they are the winner, they get to display it in their business for a year," he said.
The name of each business will be permanently displayed across the trophy.
The cleanup began in McCosh Park at 8 a.m. and ended in the Moses Lake Family Aquatic Center parking lot at about 11 a.m.
Saturday marked the event's fifth year.
Traditionally, 30 to 60 cubic yards of garbage are picked up each year during the event, Vision 2020 Chairman Alan Heroux said.
