SOAP LAKE — Ephrata's Matt Pixlee shot an 81 to earn medalist honors and lead Ephrata to a 10 stroke victory over Othello in a CWAC golf match at Lakeview Country Club Monday.

Ephrata finished the day with a 351 team score to win the match, while Othello was second with 361, Quincy third with 367 and Wapato a distant fourth at 522.

Pixlee's 10-over-par score was good enough to beat second-place Brandon Hoksbergen of Othello by four strokes. Pixlee played a consistent round, shooting 5-over on both the front and back nine. The Ephrata golfer finished his round strong, with a par, birdie and a par in his final three holes.

Hoksbergen fell four strokes behind Pixlee on the front nine and was unable to make up the deficit later in his round despite a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to finish his afternoon.

The Huskies' Jason Brault was third with an 87, and was the only golfer to record two birdies in his round.

Quincy's Kevin Biersner led the Jacks with a round of 90, earning him a tie for fifth place. Biersner had a rough first nine before recovering to record four pars and five bogeys in his final nine holes.
