The WA State Department of Transportation North Central Regional Office, P.O. Box 98, Wenatchee, WA, 98802 is seeking coverage under the Washington State Department of Ecology's NPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities.

The proposed 3.42 acre project, known as SR 262, Potholes Reservoir Shoulder Widening for Pedestrians, Contract No. 7249, is located at MP 12.65 to MP 14.05 in Grant County, Potholes Reservoir outside of Moses Lake, WA. Approximately 1.75 acres will be disturbed for the widening of the road.

Construction activity will include roadway excavation including haul, embankment compaction, drainage, crushed surfacing base course, hot mix asphalt CL 1/2 in., erosion control with new culvert installation, flexible guideposts, pavement marking, permanent signing, new mailbox supports to complete the project. Sediment run-off that may leave the site shall be controlled by using temporary control measures including check dams in roadside ditches, silt fencing, and check dams in roadside ditches. Excess run-off may discharge in to Potholes Reservoir, approximately .25 miles northwest of the construction site. Geotextile fabric on stockpiles and compost sock on embankments will be used to ensure the quality of the stormwater leaving the site. No direct discharge to any body of water is anticipated.

Any persons desiring to present their views to The Department of Ecology concerning this application may notify The Department of Ecology in writing within 30 days from the last date of publication of this notice.
