Rex Roy Nelson

Rex Roy Nelson, 61, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Friday, March 16, 2007.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Kayser's Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.

Friends are asked to bring a short thought or memory written on paper to have read at the service.

Rex was born November 10, 1945, to Osmon T. and Dawn Ann (Phillips) Nelson in Yakima. At a young age he moved with his family to Rapid City, South Dakota where he attended grade school. In 1955, they moved to Moses Lake where Rex graduated from high school in 1965. He later attended Big Bend Community College.

Rex worked as a boiler operator for U & I Sugar Company and Carnation and was a member of the teamsters union.

Rex also took an active role in leadership with DeMolay International.

He enjoyed gardening and making friends. Rex was a friend to everyone he met.

Survivors include his mother, Dawn Ann Nelson of Ellensburg; his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Dick Neimeyer of Omak, Wash.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Karen Nelson of Port Orchard, Wash., and Jim and Linda Nelson of Clinton, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Kevin Burgess, Heidi Nelson, Janet and Chris Lipton, Chris Nelson, Bob and Valarie Nelson, Mary Nelson, Heather Neimeyer and Ryan Neimeyer; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Rex was preceded in death by his father, Osmon "O.T." Nelson.
