Maryann McCoy Coykendall

Maryann McCoy Coykendall passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007, at the Avalon Healthcare Center in Othello, after an extended illness related to diabetes.

Maryann was born Feb. 3, 1937, to John and Estelle Welch McCoy in California. She lived many places as she grew up. She had two daughters from her first marriage Athena Renee and Tanya Lee. She met Richard John Coykendall in 1967; they were married in August of that year. John worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife as a fishery biologist, a job that took them to Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Cathlemat and Burbank, Washington in 1979 he took a position in Othello. They had a son John "Jay" Hugh born in 1968.

Maryann was an avid reader and was passionate about wildlife. She not only enjoyed watching wildlife but also raising birds in her home.

Maryann is survived by her husband John, her mother Estelle, a sister Connie Fry, her two daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and son John "Jay" Coykendall.

A final visitation will be held on March 8, 2007 at the 7th, Avenue Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Othello, beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. A celebration of Maryann's life will follow at noon at the church.

Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Chapel.
