Parley P. Platt, Jr.

Parley P. Platt, Jr., age 66, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2007, doing what he always did-helping a friend. A kind, loving family man, Parley was known for his generosity with friends and family throughout his lifetime.

Bom in Burley, Idaho on June 20, 1940, he spent his early years in Idaho. After moving to California at age 9, he was stricken with polio but luckily he recovered fully. Most of his life was spent between Idaho, Utah, Las Vegas, Nev. and Moses Lake/Ephrata area. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963 at Camp Pendelton, Calif.

Parley spent much of his life as a master electrician with Henderson Electric, where he worked at the major Las Vegas casinos. He maintained a loving friendship with his former wife, Effie Joe, and moved to Ephrata six years ago to be closer to her, his children and grandchildren.

A resident of Ephrata, he had continued his trade for the last six years in Moses Lake at Chemi-Con Materials Corporation. He was thought of very highly by his employer and his associates for his dedication to his profession. He was proud of his DVD collection, loved to camp, travel and take pictures while spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn May Osborn Platt and father Parley P. Platt, Sr. He is survived by his stepmother Alice Platt, brothers John Platt, Danny Platt, David Platt, and half brother LeRoy Platt; sister, Judy Ann Moulton, and half sister Rose Platt; his children, Donald Edwards, Amgel McKinney, Cammy Zabala, Kimberly Doyle, Christina Platt, and Jason Platt; his stepchildren Tony Welsh, Michelle Joe, Sada Joe, and Tonya Joe; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Viewing and Memorial services will be held at Nicoles Funeral Home located at 157 C Street N.W. in Ephrata. Viewing will take place on March 6, 2007, from noon to 5p.m. Memorial services will take place on March 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. Following services there will be a reception held at the LDS Church located at 1301 Division Ave. E. in Ephrata.
