Division Street remains blocked

Alleviates traffic flow

MOSES LAKE — The intersection of Broadway Avenue and North Stratford Road in Moses Lake will stay as is.

In the past drivers could make left hand turns onto Division Street from Broadway Avenue. It was temporarily blocked off to accommodate downtown construction but it turned out to have benefits for traffic, Municipal Services Director Gary Harer said.

Staff met with the Washington State Department of Transportation to decide whether or not to keep it blocked. After reviewing traffic simulations, the group concluded the blockage would ease traffic flow and reduce "stacking" of vehicles at the intersection.

The state will install a concrete curbing along the center line to block the turn, he added.

City Manager Joe Gavinski said he is unaware of any issues regarding the blockage from the Moses Lake Business Association as it restricts an access point to the downtown area.
