ROYAL CITY — Two men were found wounded six miles east of Royal City Tuesday night near the intersection of state Route 26 and Road A.7 Southwest.

A 26-year-old male allegedly suffered a single gunshot wound to the back of the head, Chief Criminal Deputy John Turley said. Emergency Medical Services stabilized the man at the scene. He is in critical condition at Kadlec Hospital in Richland.

A 20-year-old male located near the 26-year-old was also wounded. Further information on his wounds was not provided. He is being held at Grant County Jail as a material witness to the alleged shooting, Turley noted. The 20-year-old is an alleged shooter in the incident, he added.

The shooting may be gang-related. Information on why the incident may be gang-related was not released.

Royal City police and Grant County Sheriff's Office deputies initially responded to a report of gunfire in the 100 block of Camelia Street Northeast.

Gunfire allegedly struck an apartment building and a parked vehicle, he noted.
