Eugene Edward "Gene" Haumschild, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away June 25, 2007.

Gene, a longtime resident of Moses Lake was a private pilot who loved to fly and he helped to build the first Boeing 747. He was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where he participated in musical celebrations singing with the choir and playing his trumpet and flugelhorn. A community volunteer, he was well known for his inventiveness and his ability to be able to fix anything. Gene, a veteran of WWII, played trumpet and bugle in the Army Air Force Marching Band. Locally he played his horns as a member of the Keynotes, Herm's Combo, the Big Bend Community College Jazz Band and the community Orchestra. Between 1974 and 2001 he performed with the orchestra for all 27 of the community musical productions. In his retirement he traveled in Washington, Oregon and Canada to attend Jazz Fests where he loved to swing dance with his many dear friends-and his message to them is "Keep on dancing!" Big band and Dixieland music were his favorites.

Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on July 6, 1925, he is survived by his four children Terese Abreu, Edward Haumschild, Amy Dykeman and Elizabeth Pennington, his nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters Addie Larkin, Bernice Valiquette and Maisie Sciborski and numerous nieces and nephews.
