Puryear, Broderius win Walleye Classic
MOSES LAKE — With a two-day weight of nearly 28 pounds, Nick Puryear and Dan Broderius won first place at the 14th annual Moses Lake Walleye Classic held last weekend at Cascade Park.
The tournament, hosted by Cascade Marina, was filled to capacity this year with 240 anglers competing for more than $34,000 in cash prizes.
Puryear and Broderius hauled in 27.94 pounds. Second-place honors went to Terry Nelson and Dale Maurer (26.78), while Andrew Denny and Bobby Putnam placed third (24.72).
Puryear, who owns Walleye Pro Guide Service, and Broderius also won the optional pool for Big Fish Day 1 by snagging a 7.68-pound walleye. Charles Row Jr. and Dave Harrell won Big Fish Day 2 honors at 8.44 pounds.
The Heavy Stringer Day 1 award went to Nelson and Maurer, whose one-day catch totaled 17.94 pounds, and Heavy Stringer Day 2 honors went to Scott Bedient and Doug Horn (16.68 pounds).
Proceeds from the Walleye Classic went to the Central Washington Fish Advisory Committee, a non-profit organization that promotes enhancement and rehabilitation of local fisheries, including Moses Lake.
