The Moses Lake Fire Department performed a training session at the vacant Godfather's Pizza building Monday. The drill entailed a firefighter attempting to get out of an unfamiliar building in the dark with little vision and little air. The blinded firefighter is put into a confined location in the building and is to search their way out primarily through touch. A second drill entails a rescue crew attempting to rescue another firefighter in the building. They are under the same conditions and do not know where the firefighter is located. The department will continue to use the facility through Wednesday. Previous to the drill, the department set up obstacles inside and destroyed the interior to make it similar to a burning building.
