Walleyes baseball takes three of four

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Walleyes swept the visiting Walla Walla Bruins in a Junior American Legion baseball doubleheader at Larson Field Saturday.

The Walleyes opened the day with a 9-8 victory. Blaine Myers led the offense, going 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Kyle Hickman was 2 for 2 and Alex Moncada was 2 for 3.

In the nightcap, Myers' hot bat helped power the Walleyes to a 12-0 trouncing of the Bruins. Myers was 3 for 4 with an RBI, while Josh Martinez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Kurt Hickman went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Sunday, the Walleyes traveled to Yakima for a doubleheader, winning the first game 8-4 and losing the second 8-5.

In game one, Moses Lake rode the pitching of Troy Stephens to victory. Stephens pitched a complete game, striking out five, and went 2 for 4 at the plate. Aaron Morice and Tyler Sage each went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Walleyes. Jacob Lacelle was 3 for 4 with a double and RBI, and Martinez was 2 for 2.

In game two, Lacelle slammed a two-run home run, but it wasn't enough. Sage was 2 for 2 and knocked in a run, while Chris Jackson went 2 for 3.

The Walleyes return to action Thursday, hosting Wenatchee in a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader at Larson Field.
