COLUMBIA BASIN — North Central Educational Service District Superintendent Rich McBride was elected president of the Washington Association of School Administrators.

Association Spokesperson Amy Riggs said McBride has been a member of the association for nearly 20 years and involved with public service for 30.

Since 2002 McBride has served as the Superintendent of North Central Educational Service District, which covers Grant, Douglas, Chelan and Okanogan Counties.

"It's such a distinct honor to be called to serve as president-elect of such an exceptional organization as (Washington Association of School Administrators)," McBride said. "This is a unique opportunity to serve as both an advocate and cheerleader for the hundreds of extraordinary leaders in public schools across Washington state."

McBride plans to support association staff as they advocate on behalf of public education, support initiatives that build leadership at association buildings and the central office, collaborate with other partners and organizations as they build public support for funding, and support the success and progress of Washington's public education system.

"I look forward to working beside President John Erickson, Paul Rosier and the (association) staff, and all of our members as we continue to promote the leadership development of our administrators and high academic achievement for our students," McBride said. "My deepest appreciation to the (association) membership for this humbling vote of support for our organization."

His term begins in July 2008.
