| July 18, 2007 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — JT Ranch in Moses Lake is offering a horsemanship and riding class to all kids ages 6 through 15, with two separate four-week sessions beginning Aug. 6.

The classes will be taught by Teressa Wentland of JT Ranch. Registration costs $125 per person, per session. Any additional children may register for $100, with a maximum of four children per session.

The first session runs each Monday between Aug. 6 and Aug. 27. The second session runs each Wednesday between Aug. 8 and Aug. 29. A combined class takes place from 3:15-4:30 p.m. each day, with novice riders continuing from 4:30-5:45 p.m. and experienced riders going from 5:45-7 p.m.

Level 1 classes are for beginning riders who have little to no experience on a horse. The class will teach basic horsemanship skills such as catching, leading, tying and grooming, safety tips and basic riding skills from walking to trotting.

Level 2 classes are for intermediate and advanced riders who can already safely walk and trot. Classes will focus on advanced maneuvers, tack and safety checks, and instruction on cantering and loping.

Western or English styles are taught in both groups. JT Ranch has certified riding instructors and high-quality facilities. Horsemanship manuals are available for additional costs.

Registrations must be competed by July 27. For more information, contact Moses Lake Parks and Recreation at 509-766-9240.
