Barger wins again

Racer turns in fast lap, victory at Ephrata mid-season championships

EPHRATA — Stuart Barger continued his dominating summer with another victory Saturday night as Ephrata Raceway Park held its mid-season championships.

Barger, who turned in the fast lap time of 16.38 seconds in the Jerry's Auto Supply Hobby Stocks, won the heat race over Patrick Canady and the main event over Derrick Kapalo.

Other victors on Saturday included Dallas White in the Plummer-Janke State Farm Agents Youth Hornets, with White also earning top honors for heat one and fastest lap. Chris McCart dominated the Ephrata Pioneer Muffler II Adult Hornets, winning a heat and turning in the fast lap in the process.

In the Pepsi Cola Street Stocks event, Bart Hector used a fast lap time of 15.78 seconds to propel himself to victory in the main event. Doug Brown won heat two of the Columbia Glass Mini Stocks and went on to another victory in the main event.

The AllState Electrical Inc. Sprint Cars (CROW) series featured a pair of 25-lap main events. Paul Dart took the first event and the overall championship, with Robbie Patterson winning the second race and taking third overall.

There will be no racing this Saturday, July 21. Action resumes Saturday, July 28, with the Pro4 Pickups event returning to highlight the evening. Races begin at 7 p.m.
