Grant County Health District changes fees

Some fees decreased

GRANT COUNTY — The Grant County Health District approved several fee changes at a board meeting Wednesday.

Septic system permits increased from $250 to $350 for systems pumping 1,000 to 2,000 gallons per day. Permits for septic systems pumping more than 2,000 gallons per day increased from $250 to $450.

Pre-opening inspections for the food program now cost half the license fee. Previously, the cost of inspection was $130.

Environmental Health Director Jerry Campbell noted for catering and espresso businesses, the pre-opening inspection used to cost more than the annual license fee. The license fee for espresso businesses is $100.

Reviewing the building plans for businesses now costs half the license fee instead of $130. For espresso stands, the plans do not take long to review, Campbell said.

The fee for temporary food permits allowing the sale of commercially packaged food reduced from $20 per day to $10 per day. Previously, permits cost the same, whether a seller prepared food or sold commercially packaged food.

"People who sell food at the Farmers' Market, they're not preparing food, they're just keeping it cold and selling it," Campbell noted.

The fee for seasonal pool permits increased $10 and now cost $260. The cost of an annual pool permit increased from $250 to $320.

Pre-opening inspections for pools now cost half the annual license fee. Previously, the health district had no fee.
