| July 6, 2007 9:00 PM

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake winery Kyra Wines recently participated in the Northwest Wine Summit competition held at Timberline Lodge in Oregon.

The event limits participation to Northwest wineries and this year judged more than 1,000 wines.

"We are honored to be winning medals in this kind of competition," said Kyra Baerlocher, owner of Kyra Wines.

The awards included silver medals for the 2006 Chenin blanc, a slightly sweet wine with tropical flavors, and the 2006 Chardonnay, an un-oaked light and lively wine. Bronze medals were awarded for the 2005 Sangiovese, a fruit-forward red wine, and the 2005 Pinot gris, a crisp white with tones of honeysuckle, pineapple, and green apple.

Kyra Wines are available through several Moses Lake retail outlets and fine restaurants or email at info@kyrawines.com.
