OTHELLO — Live music, fireworks and games are in store for Othello visitors Wednesday at the annual Sun Faire, hosted in Lions Park on East Pine Street.

In addition to offering several activities throughout the day, the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce brought several bands to entertain visitors.

"This is our first year of having paid entertainers," said chamber Manager Jan Arriola.

Live bands include East Wenatchee country singer Troy T-Bone Lucas, Line Dancing Grannies from Ephrata, Tejano-Skyz, a Tex/Mex band from Moses Lake, and Amber Tide, a jazz and blues band from Seattle.

Last year, the temperature reached 104 degrees, so many people did not stay at Sun Faire very long, Arriola said. The weather Wednesday is not expected to be as extreme, she said.

"I'm looking at our attendance being larger but staying longer as well," she said.

The day kicks off with a rotary breakfast at 8 a.m., along with activities including 3-on-3 basketball, a mile run and 5K and 10K runs. A golf tournament is at the Othello Golf Club at 9 a.m. A parade is at 10 a.m.

Children's activities are offered, including a sidewalk art contest at 11 a.m., with judging at 1 p.m. A demo derby race is at 5 p.m. Vendors are selling food, crafts and gifts all day.

Fireworks begin at dusk.

"It's kind of something for everybody and of all ages," Arriola said.
