Alvina Schaible
Alvina Schaible at the age of 98 years passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2007, in the home of her daughter Darlene and son-in-law Howard Daniels, to be with the Lord.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1908, in Leola, S.D. to Fred and Christina (Hoff) Gohl.
Alvina was born and educated in Leola, S.D. She married Joseph Schaible also of Leola on Oct. 16, 1927. They were married 69 years and raised four children. They moved to Moses Lake in 1953. Alvina worked at The Travelodge motel as a head housekeeper before retirement.
After retirement they spent some of their best times traveling back to the Dakotas to spend time camping and fishing and good time with their relatives and friends. They also loved the many family get-togethers dancing, playing cards, eating German food with the senior citizens. Alvina was still active in playing cards every Thursday at the senior center until her stroke in April. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She survived by her children Darlene Daniels and Donald Schaible both from Moses Lake and 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren and two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her mother Christina Gohl and her father Fred Gohl, her husband Joseph Schaible in 1996, also two daughters Althea Hallowel from Seattle, Alvera Riggin from Arizona and a great-grandson Enrique Zozobale from Moses Lake. Alvina was the last sibling of ten children who have all preceded her in death.
She was a longtime member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church and funeral services were held there at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 20 with pastor David Daugs officiating.
Arrangements were in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories and Crematory, Moses Lake. Interment followed in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Grieving took place at the funeral home on Friday evening Jan. 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition the family wishes to thank the hospice staff, nurses, and chaplin and the Copes Care Giver for their caring and loving help, given to our mother.
