TUMWATER — An Ephrata resident is among five management council members promoted to vice president by a limited liability corporation.

Peninsula Group LLC recently announced John Jerentowski, who oversees the company's Super 8 Motels in Washington, is one of five council members to receive the promotion.

"I was very excited," Jerentowski said. "It caught me by complete surprise."

Jerentowski said his duties as a member of the management council include overseeing day-to-day operations in addition to his responsibilities for his region.

He began work with the company managing the location in Moses Lake about six years ago, then moved into area manager duties.

Jerentowski first joined the Moses Lake business community in 1985, managing a local inn, then took a break from the hospitality industry for a while. He also serves as a board member of the Washington State Hotel and Lodging Association.

"What we're trying to promote is a clean and friendly atmosphere in all of our properties, a good value for the traveling customer," Jerentowski said.

The group owns and manages 22 Super 8 Motels in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
