| January 4, 2007 8:00 PM

Louise Kallenberger, 72, passed way peacefully on Jan. 2, 2007, at Central Washington Hospital, surrounded by family. She fought a long difficult battle with lung cancer and other health issues.

She was born in Ritzville on Aug. 1, 1934, to John and Alto Reich. In 1947, her father passed away and her mother later married Henry Walter. He became her father in every sense of the word.

In 1949 the family leased a wheat ranch north of Marlin, Wash. She attended Marlin High School, where she was a cheerleader and star basketball player. She met her husband Ken and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving 2006. They moved to Royal City in June, 1963. Ken was high school principal and Louise worked at a variety of jobs including many years at the Royal City Simplot plant. Both retired in 1982 and began a second career raising cattle on the slope.

She is survived by her husband at the ranch; four children Kathy (Lee) Clizer of Sandpoint, Idaho, Rocky of Royal City, Kerry (Manuel) Gonzales of Selah and Jim (Lori) of Royal City; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Moses Lake Cancer Foundation.
