Mary Elizabeth Hankla, 74, died on Dec. 10, 2006, in Anchorage, Alaska, with her family at her side.

Mary was born March 29, 1932, in LaGrande, Ore., to George and Wilma Ambrose.

Mary had a special talent for home decorating. She had a warm and caring heart and always made you feel welcome in her home. She enjoyed having friends and family visit her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Dawn Yessak-Johnson and son Russell Paul Charpentier.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Dough and Linda Yessak of Anchorage, Alaska; Tom and Carrol Charpentier of Maple Valley, Wash., and Steve and Leeann Charpentier of Big Piney, Wy.; grandchildren Jessica Wedin of Anchorage, Alaska; Jana Hiler of Soldotna, Alaska; Deanna Greenburg of Gresham, Ore.; and Matthew Johnson of Napa Valley, Calif.; sisters Betty Lou Asla, Jean Wells, Rae Lundquist and Geri Martin, all of Oregon; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
