Amy Matsushita Nose
Amy Matsushita Nose passed away on Feb. 10, 2007. She was born April 10, 1914, in Wapato, Wash., where she was raised and educated. She married James Nose on Oct. 1, 1939, in Wapato and they lived in Seattle until the outbreak of World War II, when they were interred at Heart Mountain Relocation Center in Wyoming. In 1943, they moved to Spokane and one year later to St. Paul, Minn.
They returned to live in Wapato in 1954, where Jim worked for U.S. Rubber Recap Co. It was here that Jim and Amy were involved in teaching and encouraging many in the community about the Lord Jesus Christ. Amy began a very important work teaching children in after-school Bible classes.
In 1969, they moved to Moses Lake. While Jim worked for Japanese Airlines and helped the Japanese Farm trainees at Big Bend Community College, Amy offered much help with her hospitality and assistance to the pilots' wives and the trainees. Jim died in 1994 and was buried in Yakima.
In 2004, Amy returned to Yakima to live near her sister Kara Kondo. Kara died in 2005. Amy is survived by her sister Marjorie Matsushita Sperling of Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m on Saturday, Feb. 1,7 at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors in Yakima. Burial followed at Tahoma Cemetery. Any donations can be made in Amy's memory to the handicapped access fund at Light and Life Fellowship, 935 W. Valley Rd. Moses Lake.
