Winning brings satisfaction
Wrestlers craves feeling of victory
Jordan Hill savors the satisfaction of winning a match.
"Probably the best thing about wrestling is winning," Jordan said. "It's satisfying to know that all your hard work paid off."
In direct opposition, Hill's least favorite part of wrestling in losing and feeling the disappointment that comes with loss.
Thus far Jordan feels his season is going "great" and that his goal to place well at state is an attainable goal.
"I've got to watch out for Schadler of Pasco this weekend," said Jordan before the regional tournament in Spokane. "He's probably the number one wrestler at the tournament I need to look out for."
To prepare for the bout, Jordan has been studying tape of his matches against Schadler and also studying tape of Schadler's matches with other wrestlers.
Despite wrestling at 130 pounds, Jordan says that making weight is not really a problem for him.
"But Palmer and I are keeping a list of food to eat, places to go, stuff that we want to do but don't want to do during wrestling season in case we get hurt," said Jordan. "We want to do the gallon challenge with chocolate milk and have eating contests with doughnuts and stuff like that."
Like many of his classmates, when Jordan is not wrestling he likes to spend time with his friends and have a good time.
After graduation Jordan plans to apply to BYU-Idaho for the fall semester.
"I'm not sure what I want to major in," said Jordan. "I'll probably just do general studies for a year or two and see what I want to do."
Jordan is not holding out hope of a collegiate athletic career saying, "I'm too small for football and wrestling gets old. Wrestling in college is too intense."
