Porfirio 'Pete' Alvarado, Jr.
Porfirio "Pete" Alvarado, Jr., 56, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden on Friday, Feb. 2. Arrangements were in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Pallbearers included, Rosendo Alvarado, Gabriel Alvarado, Ernesto Alvarado, Brett Sumner, Romeo Alvarado and David Alvarado, Jr.
Porfirio was born in Brownsfield, Texas, on Aug. 11, 1950 to Porfirio and Maura Cavazos Alvarado and moved to Moses Lake in 1960.
He met Gracie DeLaTorre in June of 1969 and they were married three weeks later. From then on they had a very strong and loving marriage. They had four children, Gabriel, Rosendo, Ernie, and Belinda.
He worked for Masto Farms for 16 years before taking employment at the school district for 16 years as a custodian.
He is survived by: Julian and Elodia DeLaTorre (inlaws). David (brother) and Esmeralda Alvarado, Romeo (brother) and Kim Alvarado, Jim and Olga (sister) Martinez, Gabriel and Stevani Alvarado, Rosendo and Michelle Alvarado, Ernie and Rebecca Alvarado, and Belinda Alvarado. He had numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his grandkids: Gabriella, Erika, Alejandra, Gabriel Jr., Seth, and Vance Alvarado; Michael and Caprice Gonzales; Celia and Saphire Moreno.
He was preceded in death by: Profirio and Maura Alvarado (parents), Domingo Alvarado (brother), and Alicia Alvarado (granddaughter).
Porfirio enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. He always looked out for his family, especially Gracie, who he loved very much. He welcomed all with respect and was a very caring individual.
The Alvarado would like to thank everyone for their support. They appreciate all of the beautiful flowers, plants, and food that has been provided.
