Man stabs wife on Christmas Eve

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man suspected of stabbing his wife on Christmas Eve was arrested Wednesday.

Bryan Lee Hayward, 34, was found at his mother's home in Marysville. He was picked up by Marysville Police and brought to Ephrata by Grant County deputies.

Two days earlier, Hayward was allegedly invited to visit his three children and wrap Christmas gifts at their home, the Grant County Sheriff's Office said.

Hayward and his wife, Teresa Hayward, are married but were living apart, said Grant County Chief Deputy John Turley.

The couple was reportedly arguing before Bryan Hayward allegedly stabbed Teresa Hayward in the chest and arm with what appeared to be a steak knife, Turley said.

The inside of her fingers and palm of her left hand were cut when she grabbed the knife to defend herself, Turley added.

Their three children were reportedly home at the time of the stabbing and taken to a neighbor's home until other relatives arrived.

Teresa Hayward was brought to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake where she was treated for her wounds and released.

Bryan Hayward is being held at the Grant County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. His bail is $100,000, according to the sheriff's office.
