Warden girls sixth at HOF tournament

MOSES LAKE - Warden High School's girls wrestling team scored 22 points and tied for sixth place last Friday at the annual Hall of Fame Wrestling Tournament.

Senior Chelsea Dinsmoor was the team's lone placer at the event, finishing second at 119 pounds. Dinsmoor opened with a pin of Hoquiam's Kelsea William at 5 minutes, 7 seconds. She defeated Hoquiam's Alicia Garcia to reach the championship bout, but lost to Sedro-Woolley's Jalyse Garcia.

Hoquiam went on to win the team title with 67 points, followed by Sedro-Woolley (58), Central Valley (24), Washougal (23), Kelso (22) and Warden (22).

At 112 pounds, Warden's Alejandra Loera and Maria Woestman both lost their first matches - Loera to Hoquiam's Kelsey Sund and Woestman to Kelso's Emma Destromp. Loera rebounded to beat Tara Keenan of Springdale but was eliminated from medal contention by Washougal's Madeline McIlwain. Woestman also won her second match over Sedro-Woolley's Justine Allen before losing to Sund of Hoquiam.

Also at 119 pounds, Warden's Kamilla Harrison was taken out with two straight losses, first to Sedro-Woolley's Kayla Mathieu and then to William of Hoquiam.

Moses Lake's Candice Vela wrestled at 125 pounds and lost matches to Kelso's Shay Workman and Lake Roosevelt's Ann Thomas.

At 130, Warden's Sandra Castoreno opened with a victory over Hoquiam's Alyssa Lee but lost her semifinal match to Sarah Moquin of Sedro-Woolley. Castoreno beat Washougal's Miranda Berry, then fell to Bekie Gilreath of Chewelah in the third/fourth place match.
