Hugh Christy

Hugh Christy, longtime resident of Moses Lake passed away Dec. 17, 2007, in Seaside, Ore.

Hugh was born in Ione, Wash., on Nov. 4, 1926, to Arch and Ida Christy. He was one of seven boys and the 13th of 14 siblings, all of whom have preceded him in death with the exception of his sister Freda Cleveland, residing in Osburn, Idaho.

Hugh was raised in Victor, Mont., served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 at which time he had a daughter, Shirley Brookins, currently residing in Butte, Mont. He then married Virginia and had three children; Jerry and Larry Christy of Moses Lake, and Cheryl Christy-Matson of Astoria, Ore.

Virginia preceded him in death in 1977 after a long, happy marriage. In 1979 he met and lived with his longtime companion, Sabina Kautz, who passed away in November 2006.

Hugh is survived by his 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Coming from such a large family, "Uncle Hughie" is survived by many, many nieces and nephews.

Hugh Christy, father, uncle, surrogate parent and friend, will be greatly missed by many but will always remain in our hearts.
