James Robert McGrotha

James Robert McGrotha, age 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather entered into rest Dec. 11. 2007.

Jim was a longtime resident of Moses Lake while recently living in Liberty Lake, Wash., along with his loving wife Thelma of 55 years. Jim was born on March 31, 1929, in Thomasville, Ga.

He is survived by his wife Thelma, two sons Patrick, Spokane, and Kelly and his wife Debbie, Liberty Lake, two grandsons T.J. and Bryce, both of Liberty Lake, two great-granddaughters Summer and Kaylie, a brother Jack and sister Liz, both of Florida.

Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Germany during the "Berlin Airlift," then at the former Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake. He owned and operated Standard Oil Plant, Sales for Longview Fiber Co. and the former Swanson Motors before retiring. He was a longtime member of Moses Lake Golf and Country Club and a multi club champion. He was a 50-plus year member of Scottish Rite of Free Masonary and the El Katif Shrine Temple. He enjoyed friends, golf and was an accomplished storyteller.

At his request there will not be a service. Benson Family Funeral Services is in charge.
