Thiesfeld's big night leads Wilson Creek over Kahlotus

KAHLOTUS - Senior Daniel Thiesfeld had a 23-point outburst as the Wilson Creek Devils beat the Kahlotus Koyotes 55-36 on Tuesday night in a non-league boys basketball game.

Freshman Jacob Treat added 11 points and eight rebounds for Wilson Creek, which improved to 2-1. Fellow frosh Patrick Trepanier and senior Phillip Fuget added seven points apiece, while freshman Austin Reyes had seven rebounds.

"It was a pretty strong game for us. The game wasn't even as close as the score," Devils head coach Keith Jensen said. "The kids did a good job, played hard in the first road game of the year."

Wilson Creek plays again next Monday at Cascade Christian Academy of Wenatchee. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Colfax 47, Warden 37

WARDEN - The Cougars fell to 0-4 on Tuesday night, losing at home to the Bulldogs in a non-league outing.

Warden led 15-10 after one quarter, but Colfax (4-0) rallied to take a 20-17 lead into halftime. The Cougars responded and tied the game at 28-all heading to the fourth quarter before the Bulldogs took control of the seesaw affair with a 19-9 run.

Ben Bisnett had a team-high 12 points for Warden and Carlos Galindo added seven.

Warden looks to find the win column on Saturday night when it hosts the Kittitas Coyotes at 7:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

Wilson Creek 49, Kahlotus 19

KAHLOTUS - The Lady Devils led 30-13 at halftime and their defense smothered the Koyotes to the tune of six second-half points on Tuesday night.

Wilson Creek got 19 points, five steals and four assists from Tiffany Friend and moved to 3-0 on the year. The Devils have allowed just over 25 points per game thus far.

Ksenja Fredere played well at both ends of the court, compiling 10 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds. Holly Wilson and Kelsey Campbell scored seven points apiece.

Wilson Creek hosts Easton on Friday at 6 p.m. to open the North Central League season.

1B football

Several Odessa and Almira/Coulee-Hartline players were recently honored with all-state football selections by Bsports.org.

ACH senior quarterback Josh Goodwin, who led the Warriors to their first state title since 1990, was the Player of the Year. Odessa senior linebacker Travis Todd was the Defensive Player of the Year, helping the Tigers reach the state championship game.

ACH's Brandon Walsh shared the Coach of the Year award with Tri-Cities Prep's Dan Whitsett.

Other first-team selections offensive selections for ACH included senior running back Jordan Hughes and senior center Caden Grenier. Odessa first-teamers included senior running back Jacob Schmidt and Travis Todd at tight end.

Goodwin was a first-team selection at linebacker for ACH, and Odessa junior defensive lineman Andy Read also made the list.

Second-team selections included Odessa sophomore wide receiver Aaron Bruya, Odessa senior offensive lineman Bryce Haase, ACH sophomore defensive lineman Reid Ashley, ACH senior linebacker Nate West, ACH's Hughes at defensive back and Odessa's Schmidt at defensive back.
