Franklin Dean Hubbard
Franklin Dean Hubbard, 73, was born near Lineville, Iowa on Aug. 17, 1934, and entered into Heaven on Nov. 29, 2007, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. He was the son of Gerald (Pete) and Arlene Hubbard. He graduated from Leon High School in 1952. He joined the Air Force the same year, serving in the U.S. and France. After the loss of his father in 1954, he returned home to help his mother on the family farm. He and his mother, in 1955, moved to Washington to be closer to his brother, Ross, and his wife, Bonnie.
Dean started his 31-year banking career with the National Bank of Commerce (later Ranier Bank). He then was president of The Bank of Seattle. He then worked as a financial consultant for several Puget Sound area companies. Dean began working with Conversay, a voice recognition software company, when the company was founded. He then accepted a senior executive position and was the principal fund-raiser for the company. He was appointed to the board of directors in the early stages of the company and continued to serve in that role. Dean loved spending time in Maui. And so it was with great enthusiasm that he had for the past two years been involved in a project in Maui striving to help preserve Hawaiian culture and heritage. He was appointed to the board of advisers of this project, Circle of Stars.
On Dec. 21, 1968, Dean married Pat Bollman, the love of his life. After Dean became involved in the development of Moses Pointe Golf Resort, he and Pat moved in 2001 from Bellevue to Moses Lake. Dean was very happy living in his home on the lake.
Dean was a member of the Lake City Rotary Club, VFW Post 2995 Bellevue-Redmond, American Legion and Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Doug Bollman. He is survived by his wife, Pat, daughter Kathy (Bollman) Moreno and son-in-law Rick; son Quinn Hubbard; son Garth Hubbard and daughter-in-law Cheryl; grandchildren, Chelsea Bollman, Monica and Ericka Moreno, and Justin Streich; brother Ross and sister-in-law Bonnie, close friends Lisa Bollman-Streich, Erich Sreich, and Ron Martin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Dean enjoyed cruising with his wife; they visited many beautiful places. He enjoyed working on his golf game. He loved spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully accept donations in Dean's memory at any branch of Sterling Savings Bank. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, 431 East Brown Ave., Moses Lake. We will have lunch following the service at the Fellowship Hall. Everyone Dean met loved him and he them. Thank you, Mom, for bringing him into our lives.
