MOSES LAKE - Freshman Shanice Brice and senior Sandy Smith led the Moses Lake Chiefs bowling team to its ninth straight win on Monday, a four-game sweep of the Selah Vikings at Lake Bowl.

Brice had a two-game scratch series of 391 and Smith finished at 389 as the Chiefs improved to 9-0 in Central Washington League play. The girls host Wenatchee on Tuesday before heading to Eisenhower for a key matchup on Thursday - the Cadets sit in second place and their only loss this year was to Moses Lake.

"It was a pretty clean sweep and the girls bowled really consistent," Chiefs head coach Billy Brice said. "They stayed up and they worked hard on what we've been working on for the week."

The Chiefs' starting five averaged 172 in game one as they knocked off Selah 863-747. Brice and Smith tied for the team-high as each bowled 198. Virginia Valdez was at 168, Michelle Reynolds at 153 and Amanda Strezlczyk at 146.

In the second scratch game, Moses Lake did even better, beating the Vikings 886-697. Brice led the way at 193, followed by Smith (191), Reynolds (179), Valdez (168) and Strezlczyk (155).

The team was well above its two-game scratch series average of 843, hitting 875 on Monday.

"We're 30 over, which is always a positive note for the coach," Brice said. "Both Shanice and Sandy raised their average to 180, so they've increased about 20 pins since the beginning of the season."

Moses Lake clinched the victory with a 192-120 win in the first Baker series game, with the Chiefs leaving only one open frame. They capped the sweep of the Vikings by winning game two 162-124.
