EPHRATA - Four incumbents on Ephrata City Council are running unopposed.

Incumbent Ben Davis is running for position four, Kathleen Allstot is running for position five, Tom Middleton is running for position six and Chris Youngberg is running for position seven.

Davis has been serving council for four years.

His goal is to improve the city. He plans to focus on street and water main repairs.

"We will be able to do that," Davis said. "That's been a huge goal of mine."

He said the city received a multi-million dollar loan to repair streets and water mains throughout the city.

"We're a fairly active council," Davis said. "There's always a way to improve a city."

When he ran for council during his first term, he wanted to make a difference.

He said there was tension with past councils.

"I thought that was terrible, he said. "What I think we have now is a strong council from all different walks of life."

Middleton has served council for three years.

"I wanted to do it, it was fun," he said about his appointment to council.

Middleton's goal on council is to guide the road repair project to completion.

"We are doing something about the streets," he said.

Middleton will work to set funds aside to maintain the roads after they are constructed to avoid deterioration.

He said he hopes to see more citizens attend council meetings so they know what is happening in the city. Council meets at city hall every first and third Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Youngberg has served on the council for five years.

Her goals for the next term are to continue planning for the city's future and to focus on street repair and parks and recreation activities.

Youngberg said she enjoys serving council.

"I don't feel that I'm done doing that," she said.

Youngberg wants to continue learning the municipal process and wants to be an effective decision maker.

Allstot was unavailable for comment.

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 6.
