Columbia Basin primary election results are in

COLUMBIA BASIN - The primary ballots were due Aug. 21 and the initial results are tabulated.

For Moses Lake City Council position three incumbent Richard Pearce and candidate Darrin M. Jackson are still in the race.

Richard Beeson was eliminated.

According to the Grant County Auditor's Office, Pearce had 842 votes, Jackson had 621 votes and Beeson had 187 votes as of 9 p.m. as of Tuesday night.

"I'm glad I'm still in the running and I'm going to run a strong election," Pearce said.

Jackson was unavailable for comment.

"It's going to be a good battle," Beeson said.

For Othello City Council position six incumbent Dale Wyman and Mark T. Snyder remain in the race.

Rodney Ramiro DeLeon was eliminated from the race.

According to the Adams County Elections Department, Wyman obtained 159 votes, Snyder got 334 votes and DeLeon got 117 votes as of 8:08 p.m. Tuesday night.

"I think it's great," Snyder said. "I don't know what to say, I just think it's good I got a lot of supporters out there."

"Looks like I got some work to do," Wyman said about the results.

"I didn't make it," DeLeon said.

Robert Simmons and Guy Graber are left in the race for Othello School District position two.

William Laing was eliminated from the race.

Simmons received 601 votes, Graber received 303 votes and Laing obtained 228 votes, according to the Adams County Auditor's Office.

"I think it's great, I look forward to going forward to the general election hopefully with the same results," Simmons said. "I hope the people who voted for me are voting because they know I am going to work hard in that position."

The Columbia Basin Herald was unable to reach Graber and Laing for comments.

According to the Grant County Auditor, 200 votes were left for tabulation at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday night.

The second count will be done today.

More than 27 percent of voters in Grant County voted in the primary election. There are 8,028 registered voters.

There are 6,327 registered voters in Adams County.

It is unclear how many voters turned out for the election in Adams County.

The general election is slated for Nov. 6.

  • Adams County Park & Recreation District 4 Proposition 1 was approved with 565 votes.
  • Grant County Fire District No. 13 Proposition 1 was rejected with 210 votes while 88 voters approved it.
