WARDEN — Mike Leavitt is running for Warden City Council position five to represent the views of the citizens and be active in the city process.

"(I have) an honest interest in what people have to say," he said. "I am not afraid to shake things up. (Citizens) would have someone to hear what they are saying, not just listen."

He said he faces the challenge of his inexperience in city government with regard to running for the council seat.

He said he has lived in Warden his entire life and wants the position because he enjoys helping people.

Leavitt has experience as a volunteer firefighter.

He is interested in the growth of Warden and attracting newcomers.

"Growth is good if you have the infrastructure to support it," Leavitt said. "I would try to make it more appealing to live in and move to."

His goals for the city include bringing the community closer together and improving the appearance of the city.

Leavitt said he supports biodiesel production for Warden.

"I am all for it," he said. "Any business that creates jobs while helping agriculture is a plus."
