Blackman wants to be involved
WILSON CREEK — Wilson Creek resident Roger Blackman wants to be more involved.
So he decided to run for Port of Wilson Creek Commissioner District No. 2.
Blackman faces incumbent Gary Ribail in the November election for the position, which is a six-year term.
"I will improve the port district through dedication and service," Blackman said.
He served in the military in leadership roles, spending 11 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and the Army.
Blackman did not respond to a question regarding any challenges he faces running for the position.
"I was a staff sergeant plus I run my own business," he explained.
Blackman owns Wilson Creek Machine.
Blackman believes citizens should vote for him because he is for progress in the port district.
"I will support growth for Wilson Creek in a positive manner by getting the word out," he said. "We're open for business."
Blackman plans to improve communications with the public by talking positively to the people.
"I see that Wilson Creek's most critical need is business," he said.
