Korean students visit Grant County
GRANT COUNTY - Eleven students from Grant County returned from a trip to Gunpo, Korea, where they stayed with host families.
Now it's their turn to show students around.
Korean students arrived in Grant County Tuesday through the Grant County Economic and Cultural Exchange Committee. They are in the United States until Aug. 18.
"It's exciting to show them your house, and how your houses are different," said Moses Lake host student Josselyn Green.
Host student Jisu Choi said her host family is kind, but she finds the cat to be scary. In Korea, cats are not generally kept as pets, Choi said.
Moses Lake host student Brittany Milligan said she wants to show her host student everything meaningful in her life, such as friends and food.
"I just want to show her everything," Milligan said. "It's not enough time."
On Wednesday, students visited sights in Moses Lake. They stopped by the Columbia Basin Herald office for a tour, the Boys & Girls Club and the Moses Lake Skate Park.
"It's quite a peaceful city and I can see people communicating very well with each other," said Korean student Carl Hue. "They're so friendly."
Hue was taken by the opportunity to see cows, which he doesn't see often in the city of Gunpo.
He said he is enjoying the clear skies.
"The clouds look so beautiful," he said.
Moses Lake host student Mariel Rodriguez said because she is Mexican-American, she has an opportunity to show her host student Mexican culture and food.
