Betty Hein

Longtime Moses Lake resident and educator Betty Hein passed away July 9 in Spokane following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. At her bedside in her final moments were her son Richard and daughter-in-law Marissa. Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Hein in 1986.

Betty is survived by John and Marilyn Hein, Dan and Nancy Walsh, Steve and Alisa Palek, Anthony Constance, Jerry Johnson, Richard and Marissa Hein.

Betty Hein was born in Pullman in 1924 and graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane. She later attended Eastern Washington University and received her teachers training through this institution.

Betty taught many years in the Moses Lake School District and retired in 1982, whereupon she began volunteering for organizations such as the Crisis Line, AARP, Retired Teachers, and various literacy groups. Betty loved to be active and could be often seen walking her prized Husky, Wilbur. At her request, no memorial services will be held.
