Chiefs split with Panthers

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Chiefs held down the Wenatchee Panthers' offense to win the first game of a Columbia Basin League doubleheader 7-2, but the Panthers' bats got hot in the second game as Wenatchee took the back end of the doubleheader 10-4.

In game one, Corey Hitchcock got the start for the Chiefs, allowing just two runs in five innings of work and while striking out two to earn the victory. Chase Hunter came on for the Chiefs in the sixth to close out the Moses Lake victory.

Jacob Lacelle went 2 for 2 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs, while Brett Fredericksen was 3 for 3 with a triple in the first game against Wenatchee. Tyler Sage also had a good first game at the plate for Moses Lake, going 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.

In the back end of the doubleheader, Wenatchee broke open a 2-1 game with six runs in the sixth inning.

Matt Valdez was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI in the second game, while Sage went 1 for 2 with an RBI and Josh Martinez was also 1 for 2.
