Moses Lake suffers setbacks
Chiefs baseball loses doubleheader to Cadets
YAKIMA — The Moses Lake Chiefs twice gave up leads in then seventh inning to lose a pair of games to the Eisenhower Cadets 10-9 and 7-6 Tuesday.
In the opening half of the doubleheader, the Chiefs fell behind 5-1 after the second inning, but scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead.
After Ike scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 9-6, Moses Lake tied the game with three runs in the seventh inning. However, the Chiefs allowed Ike to score the winning run in the bottom half of the inning to take the victory.
Game two was similar to the first game, only with Moses Lake grabbing a 6-3 lead with three runs in the fifth inning. Ike scored two runs in the sixth to get within striking distance, then picked up two more in the seventh inning to once again rally to victory.
Brett Fredericksen went 3 for 4 with two RBIs in the first game, while Blaine Myers was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Josh Martinez had a single, a double, a triple and batted in two runs in the first game.
In the second contest, Myers was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Jacob Lacelle and Aaron Morice each went 2 for 4 in the back end of the doubleheader.
With the losses, Moses Lake falls to 4-4 in Columbia Basin League play, and currently resides in third place.
