MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Lady Chiefs hosted the Richland Bombers and the Pasco Bulldogs in a pair of Columbia Basin League tennis matches Saturday, nearly pulling off the victory against Pasco.

In the match with the Bulldogs, won by Pasco 4-3, Moses Lake won three of four singles matches but got swept in doubles play. All three of Moses Lake's victories were by a wide margin, while three of their losses were very close contests.

Nikki Chambers continued her dominance in first singles, dispatching Pasco's Kimberly Selph 6-2, 6-1 to get Moses Lake off to a good start. Charleen Johnson won her number two singles match for Moses Lake 6-0, 6-1 over Pasco's Taryn Hilker. Megan Fredrick of Moses Lake picked up the Lady Chiefs' third victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win in third singles over Jennifer Petty.

The Lady Chiefs played several more close matches Saturday, but couldn't come up with the final win needed for the victory in the match.

In fourth singles, Becky Jones of Moses Lake won her first set 6-4, but Michelle Petty of Pasco rallied to win the next two sets 6-2 and 6-1 to earn the win.

Moses Lake's Emily Fry and Martha Fry played competitively in number one doubles, but lost their match to Pasco's Lee Davidson and Jessica Dinsdale 5-7, 5-7.

The third doubles match was more of the same for the Lady Chiefs, as Emily White and Nanako Era lost their match 5-7, 7-5, 4-6 to Traci Micheal and Micah Stromstand. The only one-sided loss of the match for Moses Lake came in second doubles, where Rhen Ashby and Breanne Kernan lost their match 0-6, 2-6 to Pasco's Anna Munguia and Stefanie Nunez.
