Lois L. Karwacki
Lois (Loie) L. Karwacki, longtime teacher and resident of Moses Lake, was born March 28, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minn., and passed away on April 17, 2007. Loie was the third of three children born to Viking and Florence Lindberg. She graduated from high school in Redmond, Wash. and went on to graduate from Western Washington University with a degree in education. She married Bill Karwacki in 1956. In 1961 they moved to Moses Lake where they raised their four children. Loie taught school for over 35 years in the Moses Lake School District. She loved being an educator and had a gift for teaching children, especially in reading. Upon retiring from teaching, Loie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was watching her children and grandchildren participate in sporting events and was Notre Dame's greatest football fan. She endured many long hours on bleachers and benches watching swim meets, baseball, football, basketball games and rock-climbing events and she enjoyed every moment. Many great memories were made and times were spent eating Chico's pizza and watching Notre Dame football with Loie. She had a passion for working in her yard, art and working with her hands. Loie was also a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Loie will be remembered for her kind generosity and great sense of humor. She always had a smile on her face, brought out the best in people and was always willing to help with any event, project or fund-raiser. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister LaVerne Ferguson of Kirkland, Wash., daughter and son-in-law Vicki & Mark Stille of Dunn Loring, Va., daughter and son-in-law Nicki and Ed Krossen of Spokane, daughter Micki Fabian of Pacific City, Ore., Son and daughter-in-law Bill and Ramona Karwacki of Spokane, and her five grandchildren, Zach, Billy, Kennedy, Bryan and Vanessa. Her family would like to acknowledge Jan Entz, Willie B., Joanne Brizendine, Rey Pitchardo and Gilbert Alvarado as her special fans who were a great support and comfort to Loie. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles Lindberg. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to any youth activity.
