MOSES LAKE — Downtown Moses Lake construction is reaching the finish line.

Concrete and brickwork at Sinkiuse Square will be completed this week, City Community Development Representative Lori Barlow said. The fountain will be running next week and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the first week of May.

The city is not sure if the square will be renamed but it is suggested to do so by Destination Development Inc., she said.

DDI was hired by the city to find a brand for Moses Lake to market it for tourism.

Vision 2020 Chairman Alan Heroux said he is calling for citizen suggestions on what the new name of the square should be.

DDI will put up signs today in two locations within the city on Fifth Avenue and at the intersection of Yonezawa Boulevard and state Route 17, she said. The signs serve as a prototype for DDI to confirm the appropriate font size and colors most noticeable to drivers.

Information from the prototype will be used for the final signs and to help gather feedback for the city.

Multiple planters will line downtown streets, Vision 2020 member Jacie Daschel said.

"They flare out at the top and have an architectural design," Vision 2020 member Sally Goodwin added.

The concrete planters will hold several orange, purple and yellow flowers. The colors of the flowers are to match one of six suggested logos for the City of Moses Lake signs. The group found the purple and orange colors to be most appealing.

Similar flowers will be planted in the planter box around the Moses Lake Clock Tower.
