Joe Foster Baadsgaard

Joe Foster Baadsgaard, 83, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Lake Ridge Care Center. He was born in Magna, Utah, May 30, 1923, the son of Leo Foster and Cecil Florence (Barnett) Baadsgaard.

Joe grew up in Payson, Utah and graduated from Payson High School. He worked for the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company until he was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps, Feb. 4, 1943. He spent one and one half years in England, loading bombs on the planes that bombed Germany. He was Honorably Discharged Oct.24, 1945. He then went back to work for the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company, in various places throughout Utah. He was later transferred to Belle Fourche, S.D. in January of 1949.

Joe married DonnaMae Linford on Dec. 27, 1950, in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Logan, Utah. They spent the next eight years in Belle Fourche, where their son Jay and daughter Joy were born. They were transferred to Moses Lake in January 1959, Joe to work as the agricultural maintenance foreman. He continued working for the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company until they closed in 1979. He then held various jobs until he was hired as custodian of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, working until he retired. He had various hobbies; he liked electronics and became interested in computers. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions, Young Men's President, counselor in a Bishopric, primary teacher, financial and membership clerk. Along with his wife DonnaMae, they filled an 18-month mission in the England London Mission from April 1992 to October 1993.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janet and two granddaughters. He is survived by his loving wife and eternal companion, DonnaMae, son Jay (Karen) Baadsgaard, daughter Joy (Brook) Melchin, six grandsons, five granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, Ned (Donna) Baadsgaard, Ray (Luana) Baadsgaard, Gene (Judy) Baadsgaard and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family may call at Affordable Funeral Options, 215 E. Broadway Ave., Suite A, Moses Lake, (Just east of Taco Time) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, April 13 and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at the Grape Drive Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 925 N. Grape Dr., Moses Lake. Interment and concluding services will be in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash. on Monday, April 16.
