David Rollin Spurbeck

David Rollin Spurbeck, of Coulee City, passed away Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007.

David was born to Charles and Effie (Wardrobe) Spurbeck in Uniontown, Wash., on July 6, 1917. David was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Coulee City when David was five years old and he graduated from Coulee City School.

On August 27, 1937, David married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth J. Scheibner, in Coulee City, and they began their 63 years of committed marriage. David and Elizabeth lovingly raised six sons and attended every one of their many sporting events over the years.

David served his country as a member of the United States Army in the Pacific Theater in World War II. David helped build the Grand Coulee Dam and later worked for the Coulee City School District for over 30 years. He was a member of the Coulee City Assembly of God Church serving many years on the church board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald and Sydney Spurbeck, his sister Kathryn Groff and in 2001 by his loving wife.

Survived by his sons and their wives: Larry (Ruth) of Moses Lake, Ted (Marty) of Hartline, Vic (Phyllis) of Yakima, Don (Sherry) of East Wenatchee, Richard (Denise) of Coulee City and Duane (Jill) of Spokane. David was very proud of his 15 grandchildren as well as his nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, at the Coulee City Assembly of God Church. Burial to follow at the Hartline Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Coulee City Assembly of God Church or the Coulee City Ambulance Fund. Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata is in charge of arrangements.
