Our dear beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2007, at 1:40 p.m. at her home in Moses Lake.

Amelia was bom to Francisco and Guadalupe Caballero on Feb. 24, 1926, in Baytown, Texas. Amelia and Jose M. Torres were married on Jan. 2, 1949, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. They then moved to Moses Lake in 1961 and made their home there. Amelia worked for Sun Spice for about nine years and then retired and became a homemaker.

Amelia was well-liked and highly respected by family and friends for her loveable spirit. She was an angel here on earth that blessed us all. She was very active in the Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Guild up until her illness. She enjoyed singing in the church choir with her friends. She also enjoyed making tamales with her family and friends. She loved listening to music, dancing and was always full of life. She also loved family gatherings and always was hospitable to anyone that would stop by and visit.

She is survived by Jose M. Torres, her loving husband of 58 years; two sons, Manuel Torres and Joe (Teresa) Torres of Moses Lake, and two daughters, Josie (Abel) Quintanilla and Stella (Rene) Alvarado of Moses Lake; siblings Manuela Chavero of Eagle Pass, Texas, Lupita Salinas of Farr, Texas, Irma Gonzalez and Juan Caballero, Uvalde, Texas. She had nine grandchildren, David Quintanilla, Rene Jr. Alvarado, Armando (Stephanie) Quintanilla, Mario Alvarado, Tina (Jack Morris) Torres, Joey (Melissa) Torres, Elizabeth (Jaime Mendoza) Alvarado, Amy Quintanilla and Omar (Mellisa) Alvarado; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death are parents, Francisco and Guadalupe Caballero, two brothers, Manuel and Francisco Jr. Caballero, a son, Santos Torres, and two grandsons, Abel Quintanilla Jr. and Carlos Daniel Torres. Rosary will be said at Benson's Funeral Chapel at 6 p.m. Friday, April 13. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14. Interment will follow at the Moses Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Benson Family Funeral Service, Moses Lake.
