COLUMBIA BASIN — The Easter bunny is making multiple appearances in the Columbia Basin over the holiday weekend.

Ephrata

Ephrata is hosting a nighttime egg hunt open to youth ages 11 to 17 tonight at 8:20 p.m. in Lions Park.

Participants are asked to bring a flashlight and a bag to hunt for eggs, candy, pop and multiple prize eggs. There is one golden egg available for a mystery prize. The free event is sponsored by the city.

Moses Lake

The Moses Lake Lions Club is hosting a free egg hunt at McCosh Park. The hunt begins at noon on Saturday with a gunshot start, member and Columbia Basin Herald Publisher Harlan Beagley said. He urges people to show up on time because the event ends shortly after it begins.

The hunting areas are divided by age groups and there is an assisted area for the disabled.

"The Easter bunny promised to make an appearance and oversee the hiding of the eggs as a good rabbit should," he said.

Parents are advised to bring a camera to take photos and children are asked to bring a basket to stock up on eggs.

There will be 7,200 eggs including ones containing candy and prize tickets, Beagley added. The prizes include stuffed animals and sports equipment.

Candy and prizes were donated from area businesses and Willamette Egg Farms sponsored the eggs.

"It's going to be a lot bigger than in the past," Harvest Foods representative Leslie Fanning said.
