Moses Lake facility participates in recycling programs

BELLEVUE — Select AAA Approved Auto Repair facilities are celebrating Earth Day by collecting vehicle batteries and removing switches containing mercury.

Collection and removal take place April 16- 27 as part of the AA Great Battery Round-Up and Mercury Switch Out programs.

In Moses Lake, Affordable Auto Repair at 2836 W. Driggs Drive is participating. Call 509-765-9188 for more information.

AAA is concerned about hazardous materials from vehicles contaminating the environment, Vice President of Automotive Services for AAA Washington John Milbrath said.

AAA advises people to handle batteries carefully when bringing them in for recycling: Always wear gloves and safety glasses, always keep the battery upright, don't smoke near the battery, transport the battery in a leak-proof container and wash your hands after handling the battery.
